Panel session: St. Petersburg as a city-portal. The new economy of St. Petersburg as a point of investment growth
(film premiere about St. Petersburg business heroes from RBC)

Almost unnoticed for official statistics that find it difficult to take into account invisible assets and their changes, completely new industries, competitive on a global scale, have grown in St. Petersburg. Comparing the data of the Russian export center RUSSOFT Association and a number of other sources, we conclude that the main exporter of St. Petersburg for the last few years has been IT industry. The rapid development of IT affects the formation and modernization of other sectors of the new economy from the production of video games to digital car industry, from speech technology to pharma. The new economy is opened to the world; it introduces the city to foreign investors.
What do we know about the scale of new economy in St. Petersburg, how its formation is taken into account in urban action programs?
How has the development of the new economy already affected traditional industries, including development? How does the new economy change views on urban real estate and infrastructure? What is the potential of the new economy in attracting foreign investors to the city?

Panel session. «Moscow-St. Petersburg-Europe. Investment appetites of developers in both capitals. Investments and formats of real estate from Europe to the Russian market».

P. 1. Moscow-St. Petersburg and back: cross-investment in development of both capitals markets

From the business point of view, Moscow and St. Petersburg are dipolis (double city). Business communication between the cities is permanent as well as cross-investment. St. Petersburg developers enter the Moscow market and vice versa. The relocation of Gazprom’s offices and its subsidiaries from Moscow to St. Petersburg significantly intensified this process including by raising awareness of business people of two capitals about the functioning of the markets, investment opportunities and deficits of dipolis (double city).
What projects are interesting for St. Petersburg business in Moscow, and vice versa? Will we see strong alliances between Moscow and St. Petersburg developers in order to implement ambitious projects? Do they plan to form alliances with European developers?

P.2.: New formats of real estate and the way of life in European cities

The citizen lifestyle is changing forms and trends in the market of commercial and residential real estate. It is especially noticeable in St. Petersburg that is known as a European city of Russia. Europeanized students filling the city dictate Western fashion: riding bicycles, working as freelancers, hanging out in hipster cafes, loft apartments, creative clusters, co-working, and co-living.
How does traditional development pick up these trends? How profitable is it to follow them? Do the cutting-edge trends always benefit? How should residential real estate be rebuilt according to lifestyle changes? What risks for investment in development can be caused by these changes?

Andrey Lushnikov, Chairman of director board of «Best’» group of companies;

Panel session. Architectural utopias and urban reality of St. Petersburg based on the architectural foresights of RBC Saint Petersburg

The construction of ambitious buildings in St. Petersburg ended after the World Cup-2018. Lakhta-Center, the stadium Saint Petersburg arena, the bridges of the Western high-speed diameter, Nevsky town Hall are already finished. The project Embankment of Europe/the Judicial quarter is postponed for some time.
Now architectural ambitions are absent even at the level of citywide discussions. Development is planned and conducted from the point of view of the policy of economy. But in the development of a big city there is just one step from pragmatism to breakdown. In the absence of visions urban planning degenerates.
RBC Saint Petersburg presents a range of architectural utopias of urban foresights of RBC’ participants of different years, and discusses with professional developers whether utopias and ambitious architectural plans are necessary for the urban development of St. Petersburg?

Speakers:
Sergei Choban, Head of architectural bureau SPEECH;

PROEstate Events in partnership with the Training center Academy of Real Estate, supported by the Russian Guild of Property Managers and Developers, are announcing the business-tour
«Networking or coworking eastern style» to the largest hubs in Asia – Hong Kong and Shanghai.

What is all about?
Coworking has been around for a while, but its popularity has been soaring in recent years. The growth could, in part, be down to the change in people using these spaces. Before one saw coworking only as a hub for freelancers, but now they are attracting a broader audience, as small business companies and even large corporations are also starting to see the benefit.

During the tour you will visit the most popular coworking spaces in Hong Kong and Shanghai and ask your questions from the market leaders.

You will feel productive, creative, and satisfying coworking work atmosphere and get inspired

  • what’s making employers reconsider coworking spaces
  • how do users and companies benefit from the new format working environment.

You will learn more about:

  • Functional core of coworking and get inside information
  • Principals of co-services in office communities
  • Up-to-date solutions for out of standard demand
  • SAAS (space as a service) – you get service, but not square meters – the golden mean between own resources and outsourcing
  • Facility management in the changed business environment: Hard FM and Soft FM

Reasons to visit Hong Kong
Hong Kong is dynamic and vibrant cosmopolis and one of the most investment attractive places in the world. During the 2017 the value of property has grown up for 13.6%. Hong Kong is a fusion of many cultures and sophisticated mix of the east and the west. Known as a shoppers’ paradise and kaleidoscope of experience Hong Kong offers unique opportunities for business activities.

Reasons to visit Shanghai
Shanghai is the largest center of commerce and finance in mainland China, with many Chinese and international companies opening offices here. This dynamic metropolis is one of China’s greatest economic and cultural centers. Shanghai is undergoing a construction boom; new high-rise buildings are making a new skyline of the city. Multi-million investments support the most audacious architectural ideas. The city economic growth has been maintained for many years at a high level due to the political line of the authorities, and prices for various types of real estate are growing faster than in any other city in the world.
